What sets Mutineer apart from other social deductions?
Mutineer addresses what we find to be some of the common issues with the “party” social deduction genre, letting you play past death and still able to give almost everyone a special role or power with abilities!

Do you use any AI?
No! ZERO AI used, from art to rules!

Will there be more Mutineer projects in the future?
That depends fully on how this Kickstarter goes, we have ideas but nothing concrete yet. ..that’s not to say we don’t want to, though!

How much of the game is finished?
Roughly 70% of the core game is finished, but we have a lot of art additions and fixes we want to do to really make it all the best it can be.

Who's done what?
The card designs, logo’s, cardbacks, layout and font are the work of @SanderRoli, and the pirate portraits you see on each card are by @Kanijame. Anything between that from rules to writing is a collaborative effort from the both of us.

...Who the heck are you guys?
We’re two avid social deduction boardgame fans with creative hands and ambition, united under the banner of Steppe Works as a creative business and partners.

Will the game be translated?
There are no current plans for any translated physical copies. If there is high demand later on, we may look into translated copies. It’s unlikely there’ll be a translated version of the cards in the future. As we are a small two-man indie team, the cost to produce multiple diffrent copies can get expensive.
We do however want to have the online rulebook possibly translated into a few languages, and we’ll try to make this happen, but this is not definite!

What are the restrictions for the Pioneer Pirate Card?
The Pioneer Pirate Cards have a few restrictions; - They cannot include any copyrighted or explicit material. - They must be sufficiently “pirate”-themed, or theme-able. - Pioneer backers must own the character or persona they want portrayed, and will, by backing, lend us the rights to use Mutineer’s interation of said character for our Pirate Pack Expansion and future Lost Cargo.
We’ll work with you to the card to your liking, and you’ll be in contact with our illustrator directly to make it the best it can be!

When can I expect my copy if the Kickstarter succeeds?
We intend to fulfill pledges late 2026, and are aiming to get them to you by November.
Last updated: July 03, 2026 00:52
Current Estimated Shipping Date: November 2026
This is our initial fulfillment goal. We have been slowed down by some delays (late pledge problems, internet issues, and PC repairs) but we are still working towards getting the game out on time!
Last Updated At: 09/01/26What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
By completing your survey, you agree to the following terms:
All shipping fees listed during the live Kickstarter campaign were estimations only. Final shipping costs will be calculated and applied right before fulfillment based on actual carrier rates, fuel surcharges, and packaging costs. You agree that the final amount charged for shipping may vary from original estimations.
You are responsible for any applicable local taxes, import duties, GST, Sales Tax, or VAT. These taxes are not included in your initial Kickstarter pledge and may be calculated based on your local region and added as a charge alongside your shipping fees.
Once the final shipping and tax fees are announced and credit cards are processed, you have exactly two weeks to ensure your payment details are correct and successfully charged. If your card fails, or if you do not complete your survey or resolve failed payments within this two-week window, your pledge will be considered abandoned. Abandoned pledges will not be shipped, and no refunds or credits will be issued.
Because funds are immediately committed to manufacturing, print runs, and freight logistics, refunds may only be requested within 24 hours after your credit card has been charged inside BackerKit. After this 24-hour window passes, all transactions are final, and no refunds will be granted. You are strictly responsible for providing a correct, complete, and safe shipping address before the final address-lock deadline. If a package is returned to us as undeliverable due to an incorrect address, a missed delivery, or a failure to collect the package from a local depot, you will be required to pay a second shipping fee to have the package resent.
For backers in the Pioneer Pirate tier or any tier involving custom card creation and role upgrades, you may not submit names, art, text, or concepts that utilize existing third-party intellectual property, trademarks, or copyrighted material. All submissions must be original. Role selections are not completely "free range"; we want to make sure every pioneer card fits beautifully into our game, so we reserve the right to deny certain choices if they don't align with the project's vision. To ensure everything looks cohesive and hits the high quality you expect, our team will guide the final visual design, text layout, and illustration adjustments. Furthermore, Pioneers are responsible for checking their messages and making sure we can reach them regarding their custom cards. If you choose the Sander Roli Alt-Art upgrade, you do so at your own risk regarding the final art style. We reserve the right to deny certain visual characteristics, "not safe for work" content, copyrighted material, or aesthetics that do not fit the card or the overall theme of Mutineer. Please note that all Pioneer cards created during this campaign may be redistributed, reprinted, or used in future products or promotions at a later date.
